A Common ThreadAn action documentary that showcases the lives and talents of a wide group of surfers. Following various characters ranging from the top professionals to the surfing stockbroker, A Common Thread gives a unique perspective on why surfing is such an alluring pastime to so many different types of people. Filmed in New Zealand, South Africa, France, Portugal, California, and Hawaii, surfers in the film tour the world in and out of the water. Maz Quinn takes us on a ride down a natural waterslide in New Zealand then steps out the front door of his house to surf some epic, uncrowded waves. Rob Machado tells stories of his family, his music and his life as a surfer while skinning the bark off of posts to be used in his new home in Hawaii. Simon Nicholson takes us to some of the best waves in South Africa before heading to France to surf and spend some time as a tourist in Paris. Ian Walsh hikes through a Morish castle in Portugal says he wouldn't have been there if it weren't for surfing. A Common Thread is an artistic display what surfing has provided to so many people.
